Minimum wage in France in 2025 – current rates and obligations for companies posting workers

As of November 1, 2024, a new minimum wage rate (SMIC) has been in effect in France, and no increases are currently planned for 2025. According to data from the Ministry of Labor, it is:

  • €11.88 gross per hour ,

  • €1,801.80 gross per month (based on a 35-hour working week),

  • €9.40 net per hour ,

  • €1,426.30 net per month .

🔹 For whom?
It applies to all employees employed in France, including those posted by foreign companies .

🔹 What must posting companies provide?
Companies outside France must not only provide remuneration at least equal to the SMIC , but also:

  • verify industry rates from collective agreements (CCN) – which are often higher,

  • correctly settle overtime (over 35 h/week),

  • include overtime allowances.

🔍 Note – this is being checked!
During an inspection by the French Labour Inspectorate (Inspection du travail), the following are checked very carefully:

  • pay rates (are they in line with the applicable SMIC or CCN),

  • method of settling overtime and allowances,

  • completeness of payslips and employee documentation.

🔸 Irregularities may result in :

  • rejection of applications in the SIPSI system,

  • financial penalties – up to €4,000 for each employee ,

  • loss of orders and the company's reputation on the French market.
